Hey guys, so my first P Day (my preparation day where I have more free time) today, it's been a while since my last email, so I got some stuff to catch you up on. Last week I left Dallas and arrived in Mexico City. My first day at the CCM was pizza day which was awesome, and I got settled into my little house with all the other Elders. It has been amazing to get to know my district and my teachers in person, we have had a lot of fun. My friends at home will be proud to know I am showering daily, and the gym is a constant part of my morning routine.
The devotional every other night have been good, I'd be lying if I said I haven't taken a good nap in each of them, but from what I've listened to they have been good. Most of them have been about faith, I never knew you could go so in depth with it. We also had an optional choir, never thought I would be part of it, but it was fun. We sang the EFY medley, if you don't know what that is look it up, it's awesome. Today we got to go to the Temple, it was beautiful, very white, huge, and everything was in Spanish. I understood next to nothing, but I could feel the spirit there and it was so cool to experience this in a new language.
The food was a worry for the CCM, and I am proud to boast that the food has been great. It's still cafeteria food, but burrito night is awesome.
My Spanish and knowledge of the gospel are both growing by leaps and bounds. I can now “survive” an entire class, which is about 4ish hours with zero English, and I can listen pretty well if they talk slow haha.
The weather is awesome here, absolutely perfect. I got caught in a rainstorm and got soaked, I made a couple poor bets with Elders to hang out in the rain, and I'm down 2 Pringles cans.
Sorry this was a long email, I do my best to keep it short, but I want to end with a quick thought. From James 2:17-18
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
We got to make sure that if we truly have faith in Christ we need to do our best to show that through our actions. Be happy, be kind, and just love other people. It's hard, people can be dumb sometimes, but I know that if you do your best to treat them as family, because they are our brothers and sisters, you will find greater joy and peace in your life.
Peace out guys, talk next week and feel free to reach out to me with comments or questions.
