I live with a Giant

So my new companion, my little greenie, is Elder Mortensen. He's pretty cool, went to the marines is about a year older than me and is sooo tall. Like 6 7 tall. Dude I look like a midget. I know I'm not tall, but now I feel tiny, oof. Sadly his Spanish is about where mine was after the CCM My Spanish is awesome though I'm able to lead discussions, talk about all the fun stuff with investigators. Explain most things. It's so awesome to finally be at the point where I'm not just drowning (however, just bouncing on the bottom of the pool). Training is a bit rough, just feeling a tad inadequate with experience. I'm also trying to be perfectly obedient to all the rules to set a good example, but it's rough. But hey, God doesn't call the qualified he makes those who are called qualified. We are teaching this new family English, and they are all super excited. Furthermore, a few aren't members but want to be... free baptisms? English is wacky though very ha...

Alrighty it's been a crazy week so far, I will explain the subject in a bit. This week was Elder Shelley's Birthday, the big 20, so we had a mini party with all the elders, built some Legos, and ate lots of junk. Lots of fun. Sadly the next day everyone but me got a little sick, it hit my companion, Elder Johnson, the hardest. So as Elder Johnson was sick I had to do some teaching on my own, which went decent. My Spanish has improved so much, a few of our investigators have commented on it. But ya the lessons went well, and I could somewhat answer their questions. On top of all this we got one of our friends to commit to baptism!!!! She has a long way to go, but she is so awesome and so willing to learn. OK, so to explain the subject. In the mission you are called a “son” to the person who is training you, and he is called your  “dad”. So technically I still have 6 weeks of training left, but I got called as a trainer starting tomorrow. So I will have a “son” soon, thus I am p...

Red Sun Rising and Magic Cards

Hey guys, past 2 weeks have been a bit wack, we had a temple trip today, so everything got moved around. So I got P Day Today. Pretty normal 2 weeks just busy. Fires have been going on, so the air quality has been bad. Smoke is so thick sometimes that I feel like I'm in Texas because I can't see any mountains. Burns your eyes a bit, but I'm a strong boy I can deal with it. Cool thing is the sun and moon turned red so that was cool. Spanish is going swell, getting my but kicked quite consistently, but I am learning. Vocabulary is expanding and my knowledge of grammar helps a lot. My biggest struggle is listening, so hard to understand sentences rather than just words. It's interesting. Two cool experiences this week, I got to go to the Temple 2 times this week. Yesterday I went and did baptisms for the dead with the youth of our branch. For those not in the church, we believe this is an opportunity for those who didn't have a chance to be baptized or didn't want ...
