Happy Easter!
April 12, 2023
Hey everyone! It's been an awesome 2 weeks but also quite a few very hard days. But here's the run down.
We had general Conference last week and us and the other English Elders camped out in the church and watched it together. Look at the pictures to see our epic set up. It was fun to have all the food and couches brought in and just feel the spirit as we listen to the prophets and apostles. Our prophet really focused on being a peacemaker and doing our best to control what we say. It's very easy to hurt people with words, poor jokes, and back handed complements. We want to try to do all we can to speak well of everyone and keep our poise. Definitely rough to do but it's been so cool to see my thoughts on others change as I strive to do this.
Sadly my good friend Jairo got cold feet about getting baptized on Thursday and we got a text saying he wasnt going to come to the interview. Which was sad because he is definitely ready and he has such a sincere testimony. On top of that most of our lessons canceled this week, we got a lot of people just not responding to us, and our zone is having some intense struggles. There were a couple days where it felt like I was swimming with the dumb swim socks again (they are just big nets you swim with around your ankles, they hurt and slow you down a ton haha). Nevertheless, it was Easter Yesterday! I was reminded of the love Christ has for me and that he knows the struggle I was going through. It was amazing to see although these trials didn't leave I can take them in stride and patience.
I'm so excited to see how this Transfer will go, we have one more week, one of my companions heads out to Peru today. Im gonna do my best to milk every moment of work I can get, probably make my companion fall asleep a couple times or something from all the running.
I am beyond grateful to be here, in Oregon. The land of the hobos and and constant rain. I have seen so many tender mercies and I feel honored to be able to come here and bring the gospel that brings me so much joy to those that are struggling so much. I don't think there would be any better place to serve than this. I love the people, I live Spanish, and I love Jesus Christ. I know he died for us. I know he lives for us. He will help you, all you have to do is ask. Thank you for the support, I love all of you and I'll talk to ya next week
